LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (August 28, 2007) – Freshman Shaynita Blanchard (Portmore, Jamaica/Archbishop Carroll, DC) converted a penalty-kick goal in the first half, but it wasn't enough as the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team dropped a 6-1 decision to visiting Bloomfield College Tuesday afternoon.
Blanchard scored her first career goal in the 31st minute. Her goal pulled Lincoln to within, 2-1. Sophomore Antonia Jones (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) helped earn Lincoln the penalty kick when she was pushed in the box.
Lincoln junior goalie Wehneh Tidoe (Bronx, NY/Murry Burgtram) made 16 saves.
Bloomfield got a hat-trick from Michelle Giuca and two goals from Melissa Torzewski to end a 14-game losing streak. Also scoring for Bloomfield, which scored three goals in each half, was Karelys De La Cruz.
Lincoln returns to action on Friday afternoon when it hosts Wilson College beginning at 4:00 p.m.
